Course Structure & Requirements

Pre-Requisites:

  • Minimum two years of consistent yoga practice

  • A curiosity for learning and commitment to personal growth

  • Regular attendance of weekly yoga classes with a teacher

 

Course Schedule:

  • 187 Contact Hours (In-Person & Online)

  • Monthly Training Weekends (1st Sat & Sun of the Month)

  • Weekly Online Support Sessions (Thursdays)

  • Guest Tutors & Expert Workshops

  • Completing an A&P (Anatomy and Physiology) course before starting the Yoga teacher training.

Free online Information sessions will be held on May 22nd & June 19th

Introduction Day is a typical meeting day sample: June 7th. (The cost for the Introduction Day is £50, which will be part of the course fee when you sign up).

Thursday 6.00 - 9.00 pm online teaching via Zoom - the third Thursday of the month.

Saturday 1.00 - 6.00 pm in person - first weekend of each month

Sunday 9.00 am - 4.30 pm in person.

Course Content

The course covers the principles of kinesiology and practical application of A&P to ensure safe practice and appropriate modification of asanas, lesson planning and course planning, assessing your students, evaluation of your own teaching, class management and the teaching of adults, and the business of setting up your own yoga class.

The course is divided into different units, which will be assessed through formal assignments and marked homework. You can present your work in various formats, such as in written, audio or vlog format.

This is often the scary part of the training, but it truly helps you to transform from a yoga practitioner into a yoga teacher.

5 Units taught non - sequentially aim to equip student teachers in the theory and practice of:

  • Principles of Anatomy and Physiology and the Teaching of Asana.

  • Breath Awareness, Breathing Techniques and Relaxation.

  • Stress & Relaxation Teaching & Learning, Lesson Planning & Setting up a class.

  • The Business of Yoga - Course and Class Planning.

  • Teaching Skills - the Art of Teaching Yoga.

  • Safe and Inclusive Teaching.

  • The Historical and Philosophical Background of Yoga.

The Certificate Course is very practical and encourages you to start thinking of yourself as a Yoga teacher from day one. Each unit will include presentations and written assignments to ensure you get plenty of practice in teaching during the course in preparation for teaching your own classes.

The syllabus asanas will be taught to deliver an in-depth understanding of their anatomy, how to modify them and their possible effect on the body’s vulnerable areas.

Certification:
Upon completion, you'll be a Yoga Alliance-registered RYT-200 teacher, ready to lead classes confidently.
