Ayurvedic Massage
In Ayurveda, massages play an important role in keeping the body's doshas balanced and in assisting with detoxing the body.
All massages use specifically prepared oils. During Abhyanga (Ayurvedic full body massage) Massages these special Ayurvedic oils are massaged deep into the body's tissues.
Different massage techniques help to:
Work the oil deeply into the different tissue to dislodge impurities,
Release muscle and nervous tensions,
Improve circulations and lymphatic drainage,
Improve digestion,
Improve sleep,
Strengthen the immune system,
Reduce stress thus promoting health and wellbeing.
All oils that we are using during the massage are either produced at the Atmasantulana Village, Lonavala, or from Ayurveda Pura, London.
Traditionally the oils are cooked for several days during which they are cultivated with different herbs to be easily absorbed by the body's tissues for balance and nourishment.

What happens during a massage session?
The first session will be about 30 min longer; we are going through a short questionnaire to determine,
if there are any underlying conditions or contraindications present,
which oil to use for maximum benefit.
Followed by a pulse and tongue diagnosis.
The massage itself takes about 75 minutes.
It starts at the feed, followed by hands and arms, the front of the body, the back and the face.
After all sessions, a period of complete rest for about 10 min. should be observed to enable the body to absorb the massage and the oil.
1 hour after the massage a shower without soap is advised to rinse off the excess oil and toxins that the massage has drawn to the surface.
During the hours after the massage, plenty of warm/hot water or herbal teas are recommended to help the released toxins to be transported into the digestive system in order to leave the body.
Please notice: This massage is not suitable during the first 3 days of menstruation.
Additional Ayurvedic Treatments:
Mukhabhyanga
A traditional Ayurvedic face massage of the face, neck, and shoulders.
Special focus is given to the stimulation of Marma (vital energy) points, using warm medicated oils. Mukhabhyanga promotes circulation and lymph flow, resulting in a glowing, healthy complexion. The treatment is rejuvenating and reduces tension, stress and headaches.
There is a short consultation beforehand; the treatment takes about 60 min, with a period of rest afterwards.

Pregnancy and Postnatal Massages
Pregnancy is a very special time, which asks for both physical and emotional adjustments from the pregnant woman. A pregnancy massage can be wonderfully nurturing and support the processes.
The ayurvedic full body massage in pregnancy
- eases physical and emotional strain,
- reduces stress and anxiety,
- promotes sleep,
- improved circulation,
- eliviates back pain,
- aides digestion, hormonal balance and healing.
Traditionally in India, new mums receive a full body massage every day for the first 10 days, which is such a treat and a very important one. Pregnancy, the process of giving birth and the postnatal time imbalances the Vata dosha, the air and space element of the body; oil massages are one way to start recalibrating the body and the mind and help to speed up the healing process.
Imbalance of Vata shows in
- emotional highs and lows,
- feeling stressed and overwhelmed,
- poor digestion
