Are you thinking about Yoga Teacher Training? The BWYQ Certificate Course for Teaching Yoga is an exciting opportunity to transform your passion for yoga into teaching it to others. Maybe your yoga practice has been a considerable part of your life for a few years and you would like to take it to a totally new level.
What will the course be about?
This 300 hrs course works along the syllabus of the BWYQ Teacher Training Certificate which offers a Level 4 of the National Educational Credit Framework.
You are offered 160+ contact hours plus one to one tutor contact and home study which will lead you 300 hrs by the end of the course.
Throughout the time you are receiving teaching by the course tutors, which will be a mixture of lectures, discussion and interactive group and partner work. All will be delivered in a non-competitive and nurturing environment, enabling you to become a confident and competent yoga teacher.
You would need to have a very regular yoga practice of at least 2 years with an approved yoga teacher. Ideally you have completed a BWY Foundation Course 1.
As the course covers a variety of subjects, you would need to have a keen interest in learning about the anatomy and kinesiology of the human body and in learning how to teach Yoga. You would need to have an open mind .
Prior to the course, interviews are going to take place and you would have to opportunity to experience a taste of a typical meeting at the Induction Day, which takes place July 12th 2020.
Throughout the course you would need to attend weekly yoga classes with your teacher which need to be signed off.
After being accepted to the course and prior to its start, you would need to complete the BWY distant learner A&P (Anatomy and Physiology) course.

Introduction Day: July 12th 2020, 10.00 am – 4.30 pm.
10 weekends: from September 2020 – June 2021 (20 course days)

The course covers the principles of kinesiology and practical application of A&P to ensure safe practice and appropriate modification of asanas, lesson planning and course planning, assessing your students, evaluating your own teaching, class management and the teaching of adults, and the business of setting up your own yoga class.
The course is divided in different Units which will be assessed through formal assignments, marked homework. In order to ensure our course is accessible there is facility to submit information in written, audio or vlog format. This is often the scary part of the training, but it really helps you to transform from a yoga practitioner into a yoga teachers.
5 Units taught non-sequentially aim to equip student teachers in the theory and practice of;
Principles of Anatomy and Physiology and the Teaching of Asana
Breath Awareness, Breathing Techniques and Relaxation
Stress & Relaxation Teaching & Learning, Lesson Planning & Setting up a Class
The Business of Yoga – Course and Class Planning
Teaching Skills – the Art of Teaching Yoga
Safe and Inclusive Teaching
The Historical and Philosophical Background of Yoga
The Certificate Course is very practical and encourages you to start thinking of yourself as a Yoga teacher from day one. Each unit will include presentations and written assignments to ensure you get plenty of practice teaching on the course in preparation for teaching your own classes.
The syllabus asanas are going to be taught to deliver you an in-depth understanding of their anatomy, how to modify them and their possible effect on the vulnerable areas of the body.
